EAST OF ENGLAND REGIONAL ECONOMIC STRATEGY
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is the driving force behind sustainable economic growth and regeneration in the East of England. Their task is to improve the region's economic performance and ensure the East of England remains one of the UK's top performing regions. ANCER SPA created the Business Support Strategy as a vital process to the region's development as it plots whether they were on target for attaining its current goals as well as guiding economic development.
HARLOW INNOVATION CENTRE ACQUIRES SITE
On the back of the feasibility study carried out by ANCER SPA Harlow District Council has now acquired a prestige site on which to build an Innovation Centre with a funding of £5million. The creation of the new innovation centre for Harlow will meet a recognised need for business support and accommodation for start up, growth and development of knowledge-based SME businesses in Harlow.
GATWICK DIAMOND RECEIVES FIRST COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC STRATEGY
Gatwick Diamond is within the economic heart of the South East, accounting for some 350,000 jobs and a GDP of around £10 billion. With the sixth largest airport in the world at its centre, motorway and rail links to the centre of London, the UK and Europe, the Diamond has connections to all points of the compass and easy access to global markets.
The Diamond has some of the finest commercial property and business hubs and a quality of life to balance and enhance the busiest lifestyle and ANCER SPA has now developed a three year plan for the Gatwick Diamond to develop and realise its full potential.
HACKNEY PRODUCES COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO SMALL BUSINESS WORKSPACE PROVISION
Having assessed the issues for providing approaches and mechanisms workspace for small and medium sized businesses in Hackney, ANCER SPA has created a comprehensive approach for this information to be used to shape how the Council manages the pool of ‘SME’ funds collected through planning contributions.
CHANNEL CORRIDOR GROWTH STRATEGY DEFINES FUTURE VISION
ANCER SPA has created a 15 year economic development framework for the Channel Corridor, which provided a comprehensive review and research into the economic factors that impacted upon the future growth and sustainability of the three boroughs. It addresses the opportunities and needs associated with the significant changes the Channel Corridor is or will be undergoing in its housing, population, demographics, and infrastructure and also addresses the potential of the business sectors, which have greatest possibility for growth.
BLUEPRINT FOR FOLKESTONE CREATIVE HATCHERY
As part of the development of the Creative Quarter in Folkestone, ANCER SPA carried out a feasibility study for a creative business “hatchery”: The aim is to provide a cost-effective and supportive office environment for creative businesses in their start-up phase. The first phase of this workspace provision will form part of the new Performing Arts and Business Centre now being taken forward.
UPDATE TO EAST SUSSEX 10 YEAR STRATEGY UNDER WAY
The existing East Sussex Strategy Policy Framework covers the period from 2003 – 2013 having been presented in April 2002 and therefore being 4 years into its 10 year life.
ANCER SPA is refreshing the East Sussex Economic Development Strategy as new frameworks have been created since, such as the RES and South East Plan plus more localised strategies, It will provide a clear medium term economic strategy for the county ensuring that East Sussex achieves enhanced economic growth and prosperity.
