i54 WOBASTON STRATEGIC EMPLOYMENT SITE WOLVERHAMPTON
ANCER SPA obtained outline planning permission in March 2007 for this 90 ha strategic employment site near Wolverhampton for Advantage West Midlands and its joint venture partner Wolverhampton City Council. This site, at the gateway to the Wolverhampton Telford Technology Corridor, has been allocated in regional plans to accommodate both a Major Investment Site and a Regional Investment Site creating a technology-based business park and over 6,000 jobs.
Site preparation works have been largely completed and the next stage of development of this project is the detailed design of a new site access connection to Junction 2 of the M54. ANCER SPA submitted a planning application in September 2009 to vary the conditions of the outline planning permission to allow a larger phase 1 development. CHATTERLEY VALLEY STRATEGIC EMPLOYMENT SITE
ANCER SPA obtained outline planning permission in February 2007 for one of the Region’s flagship partnership regeneration projects led by Advantage West Midlands. This comprises the comprehensive development of some 100ha of former ironworks and colliery land at Chatterley Valley in North Staffordshire to provide a major employment site creating up to 4,000 jobs.
The development of Phase 1 is underway and Ancer Spa obtained planning permission for Gazeley UK Ltd for their innovative ‘Blue Planet’ warehousing scheme The development on the Lowlands Road site has now been completed, has ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM status and won a number of awards as an exemplar of sustainable design and construction.
Northern Trust’s striking 33,000sqft Genesis Enterprise Centre on Goldendale West was opened by Ian Austin the Minister for the West Midlands in September 2009 Genesis offers a total of 94 individual office suites in a building with BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status.
BIRMINGHAM & NORTH SOLIHULL REGENERATION ZONE
ANCER SPA completed in September 2009 a Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) for Developing Employment Land for the Birmingham & North Solihull Regeneration Zone. This included the identification of priority investment areas and projects for delivery by Birmingham City Council, Advantage West Midlands and its partners.
ANCER SPA has also completed in October 2009 a feasibility study of the potential for the Tyseley area of East Birmingham to become a Resource Recovery/Environmental Enterprise Park.
BIRMINGHAM CORRIDOR REGENERATION FRAMEWORKS
ANCER SPA has recently completed tor Birmingham City Council the formulation of regeneration frameworks for the A34 Stratford Road and Washwood Heath corridor areas of Birmingham. These comprised holistic approaches to the regeneration of areas of physical decay and social deprivation that have a high proportion of BME residents.
OLYMPUS ENGINEERING, STOKE ON TRENT
ANCER SPA submitted an application on behalf of Olympus Engineering for gap funding from Advantage West Midlands towards the cost of construction of a new factory to enable their relocation from Hanley to Cliffe Vale in Stoke on Trent. The application was successful and the project started on site in August 2009.
GRANTHAM, LINCOLNSHIRE
Working for the joint landowners ANCER SPA has secured from South Kesteven District Council a resolution to grant outline planning permission for a sustainable urban extension for 1,800 new homes, a primary school and local centre in Grantham. The application which entailed an Environmental Impact Assessment was considered by planning committee in Sept 2009 and a start on site is envisaged in late 2010. The project is a key component of Grantham’s Growth Point objectives.
ANCER SPA is also advising Buckminster Trust Estates on the allocation for development of a second Sustainable Urban Extension for Grantham of 3,500 new homes that will include a new relief road to the south of the town. The project has been identified as a ‘preferred option’ by SKDC in their CSS.
NEW ENTERPRISE / INCUBATION CENTRES
ANCER SPA assisted Sandwell MBC in 2009 to procure the developer PURE to develop an enterprise centre at McKean Road in Oldbury comprising 3,000m2 of floorspace and accommodation for 65 businesses. We were also commissioned by Dudley MBC in September 2009 to undertake a feasibility study to develop an enterprise centre on a site at Castle Gate in Dudley.
