Providing a Response

INTRODUCTION

Jaguar Land Rover is pleased to announce an exciting proposal to develop a facility that will produce a new generation of low emission engines at this site. The site has outline planning permission as a strategic employment area focused on high technology manufacturing and includes the allocation of some 40 hectares for a Major Investment Site to attract large scale inward investment. Jaguar Land Rover’s development proposals are in accordance with this outline planning permission and the intention is to submit detailed proposals at the end of October to the local planning authority South Staffordshire Council for their approval.

The scheme is to be located on the northern half of the site nearest the M54 motorway.

Over the coming months Staffordshire County Council, with the support of Wolverhampton City Council, is to undertake a further phase of earthworks to the western part of the i54 South Staffordshire site to create development platforms for the scheme. This will include diverting the footpath that currently cuts across the site so that it passes on an alternative route through Clewley Coppice before reconnecting into Middle Lane. The Council will also build the proposed new access to connect to Junction 2 of the M54 motorway in readiness for the opening of the engine facility. Thereafter, traffic visiting the engine plant will use this motorway access.
